JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Manager of Projects is responsible for managing strategic Projects and Metrics for the Neuromodulation Business Unit outside the scope of New Product Development. Lead, direct, and manage the project scope, deliverables, risk management and finances across an array of continuous improvement, infrastructure development, manufacturing and vendor network strategies. Additional responsibilities include leading the annual strategic planning process for Operations and Supply Chain as well as managing and communicating the metrics across the Neuromodulation supply network. 4-7 Project Managers will report directly to this role.
Impact this role will have on Abbott:
Manage the Neuro Business Projects Portfolio, which will encompass anything outside the responsibility of Program Management. Liaison to internal Abbott sister sites outside the ownership of the Neuromodulation Business.
Liaison to internal Abbott sister sites outside the ownership of the Neuromodulation Business. This role will drive the margin reduction objectives and review performance for all metrics except supply chain performance.
Facilitate annual operating planning and strategic planning processes on behalf of the broader Operations organization. This role will include the consolidation and maintenance of the key performance metrics and reporting.
Works with Senior and executive management to develop high impact improvement strategies.
Creates operational cost models to support analysis and management of Division goals
Set priorities, allocate tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
Performs bench marking and cost structure analysis to define significant opportunities for improvement.
Establishes sustaining processes to evaluate cost/capacity evaluation and modeling for the global operations network.
Program Management: Implement standardized project planning and control processes and ensure tools are effectively used across all operations internal and third party strategic manufacturing programs in accordance with the quality system including time lines, milestones, and design control.
Minimum Education/Minimum Experience / Training Required:
Bachelor’s Degree - Required (Engineering or related field)
Master’s Degree - Preferred (Business / Project Management / Engineering)
Minimum 10 years of experience in operations, supply chain, management, engineering, and or financial management.
Certification or equivalent working knowledge of improvement tools and methodologies – Lean/Six Sigma; Black belt preferred.
Proven team/functional leader. Drives innovation and change. Takes initiative. Strong analytical skills.
Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for FDA regulated environment.
Solicits the cooperation of a diverse group of disciplines and functions in a tactful and persuasive manner.
Effectively clarify and facilitate resolution to issues, risks and actions.
Proven leadership skills, results oriented, highly collaborative, team player, and self-starter who can operate in a fast pace environment. Listens to and understands others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations. Works well with other engineers in a collaborative, fast-paced goal-driven environment. Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.
This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to effectively lead in a team environment, adaptable to change, able to manage competing priorities, excellent analytical and problem solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and sense of business savvy.
