Leidos, Inc. has an opening for a Chief Software Engineer to lead a program supporting a large DoD customer. This opportunity will support a transformational new system delivering modern workflows and capabilities providing direct support to customer mission. Candidates must possess a current and active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with CIPoly.
The Chief Software Engineer:
Leads and performs on a team of software developers to create, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, development of real-time workflows, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.
Conducts SWIT to review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents those test results. Resolves software problem reports.
Significant, demonstrable experience with Agile Scrum methodology and implementing across the software development team and development environment.
Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of COTS/GOTS in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
Must be a team player, strong communication skills, and works well with other Senior program staff (Architecture, Test, Deployment, PM)
Experience with business process/workflow design and development. Be able to use the comprehensive user engagement conducted by system engineering counterparts to convert the use cases, user interviews, and architectural artifacts into functioning software services.
Must be able to work in a dynamic fast paced, highly flexible, team-oriented environment with responsibility for customer deliverables and schedule.
Analyzes user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements;
Designs and codes new software or modifies existing software to add new features; Debugs existing software and corrects defects; Integrates existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments;
Develops software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers; analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigating problem areas;
Some local travel < 10% (less than) may be required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, other software technical discipline.
8+ years of software engineering experience
Must have experience developing standards-based solutions: web services, modern user interfaces.
Must have experience with FOSS and COTS integration
Must be a Certified Scrum Master
Must be SAFe-certified
Must have significant experience leading agile software development teams.
Must have an active and current DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance upgradable to a TS/SCI w/poly.
Experience with software development tools such as: JIRA Agile, Stash, GIT, Confluence
Experience with IDL programming
Experience with National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) enterprise systems
Master’s Degree in engineering or advanced technical discipline
Past experience with software engineering of DoD solutions
Knowledge of current software engineering practices, trends and standards.
Experience with implementing large, enterprise software solutions
